Palm International, Inc. is a
multifaceted company engaged in nickel and rare earth chemical
manufacture. The company is active in the metal finishing industry,
but also supplies products for the catalyst, battery, electronics
and porcelain industries.
Palm is the largest manufacturer
of Electroless Nickel grade, liquid nickel sulfate in the USA.
Palm's liquid nickel sulfate is the purest available, and has
become the industry's standard for electroless
nickel
manufacture, especially for high tech applications, such as magnetic
memory discs. Palm also manufactures high purity, liquid nickel
chloride and sulfamate and other nickel and cobalt chemicals.
These are used extensively for electroplating and other applications.
Palm also manufactures rare earth
(lanthanide) chemicals. Individual and mixed rare earth oxides
and carbonates, from various basic suppliers in China and the
USA, are used to produce specialty salts and solutions for many
applications, including catalysts, electronics, adhesives and
automotive.
Palm distributes dry nickel and
cobalt salts (including sulfate, chloride, sulfamate, carbonate
and acetate) manufactured by the OM Group in Finland and is the
largest importer of these chemicals for metal finishing in the
country. Palm is also the largest distributor of sodium hypophosphite
in the USA. This compound is manufactured by Rhodia and is used
extensively for electroless nickel plating. Palm also distributes
nickel, copper, zinc, tin and other anodes for electrolytic plating,
as well as cleaners and other chemicals.
In addition, Palm manufactures
plating systems, tanks, filtration equipment, heat exchangers
and other equipment for electroless and electrolytic plating.
Its ENtank and ENstat electroless nickel plating systems are
recognized as state-of-the-art by the industry, and are recommended
or distributed by most chemical suppliers. Palm's Instrument
Division also manufactures sophisticated automatic process control
systems for electroless plating processes, cleaners and other
plating processes.
The company is very technically
oriented and strives to stay in the forefront of new technology
for metal finishing and especially electroless plating. The staff
is a diverse group with areas of expertise in chemistry, electronics,
metallurgy and plating. By combining these technologies, they
often develop unique solutions to difficult problems.
